About

Hello, I am Adelia (AKA Dee), and I am a cross stitch-aholic.
I have spent most of my life in the Pacific Northwest, on a little farm in Oregon, where I raised kids, animals, flowers, and vegetables. I love being out in the country where it is quiet, and I can watch nature at work.

I have done sewing, crafts and needlework since I was a little girl, but it wasn’t until 1985 that I started doing Counted Cross Stitch. I had gone into a needle work shop with my Mom and was looking at all the lovely pattern books, and kits on display. Mom saw me gazing at a tiny kit of a teddy bear in blue overalls and urged me to buy it- at first I refused; the reason being, that I had tried needlepoint, but didn’t care for it, and I had tried Stamped Cross Stitch, with the same results. So I didn’t want to start something that looked like needle point, only to find I didn’t care for it. Mom told me that Counted Cross stitch was totally different from needlepoint, and I gave in and bought the little kit. I know that I was drawn to that little bear in blue overalls because at the time, I had a little son who loved teddy bears. Well, I started work on the bear and I haven’t stopped cross stitching since!

I absolutely love Counted Cross Stitch. I still have that very first cross stitch pattern and hope that one day I can stitch it again for a grandson! I didn’t know anyone else that did cross stitch. I pretty much thought I was the only X stitcher in the world.

Then in 1999, my husband bought a computer. It took me a long while to get brave enough to learn to use that first computer, but one day I was playing on it, and did a search of ‘Cross Stitch’. Wow! I was in awe of what I found. A whole new world was out there! Bulletin Boards, Message boards, Chat Rooms, Websites, Internet shops... I was overwhelmed. Other Cross Stitchers were spread out over the world, and I wanted to know them!

Over the years, I have come to know many of these Stitchers, and it is a great pleasure to talk to them on message boards, and to attend Meet & Greets, XS Retreats, and Get-To-Gethers with them.
I have learned a lot from these lovely people.
A few years ago, I began to play with some of the specialty flosses that are available on the
market, and have come to love using them in my own designs.
I invite you to browse my website, and find something to suit your stitching desires.
Please email any questions or comments that you may have.
I am looking forward to meeting you.
Adelia
